The story of a little miracle called TUULA

Above: gorgeous, amazing Tuula :)

Well, you may already know my three "fufunchis". :) If you happen to be around this page you'll know they're my pet fancy rats :) and even if you dislike rats, if you look closely to my furry friends (that already starred in some of my videoclips like "No matter what they say"). Their names are TUULA (wind), RITVA (birch branch) and TAIKA (magic spell) all coming from finnish names. At the moment of this post Tuula and Ritva are 2 years and five months, which is for lady-rats a respectable age. They've had an unfortunate story with tumours and surgeries, though so far all have been removed successfully with surgeries. Last friday, Tuula was playing as usual, despite their age they are both doing amazingly well, they are playful and happy. Héctor and I were watching a video of Totonika and remembering how suddely she left us when out of the blue, Tuula had a seizure/stroke all of a sudden. She went downhill really fast and I took it quickly downstairs to my bedroom expecting her to die because she was unresponsive, breathing very shallow and obviously unwell. She let herself go and we said our farewells among tears... Tuula was no more :( but then in the middle of my anguish, and this is just how things happens so randomly in this universe, I was speaking to her, I told her "Tuula if you have to leave, mummy will understand, don't worry, though I would have preferred you to stay longer with me". Just like a little miracle her ribs started to move, she was alive! very badly and gravely but alive! When reaching hospital vet, she had laboured breathing and had severe hypothermia (quite normal if you come from the dead!) and semi-comatose  so she spent the weekend in a chamber with oxygen and temperature and medication for possible (unlikely) pneumonia or suspected congestive heart failure. We took samples of her blood, and today we knew she already had liver and kidney failure already at the moment she got to the vet. At this moment, all the time I have with her is a gift, a gift or a miracle, and though we never know when this can happen again, right now Tuula is playing, moving, eating, drinking and stealing oats from a box and trying to escape from the carrier to meet her sisters. She is ALIVE, my little hurricane tornado, untamed just like the WIND like her name means. And WHAT A BEAUTY. I´m happy to share your company a little longer. I love you my sweet friend. Thanks for choosing to stay with me. This extra-time for me is a blessing and you are just amazing.

And by the way thanks to Laura Miró for sending me these "fimo" miniatures of my "fufunchis". I'm happy we´re still a complete family.

Above: Tuula as a baby (1 month), she's now two years and a half and has still that cute baby-face with big curious gaze :)

And also to fellow singer songwriter Louisa John Krol and her husband Mark, because they are "fufunchis" godparents all over from Australia sending them treats and gifts :)

Dear Priscilla: My heart goes

Dear Priscilla:
My heart goes out to you, and I'm so, so glad you have more time with your beloved Tuula. I nearly lost my cat--who was truly a soul mate--when she was only 10 years old. Like you, I asked her to stay with me, and she did...for another 10 years, no less.

I'm convinced our animal friends can work such miracles because their hearts are as big as the universe, so they carry within them the full power of the universe. That power is love in action; it's their love for us that enables them to overcome death, I think...staying with us as long as they possibly can.

I'm sure that however much time you still have with Tuula, she will be blissfully happy, safe, and loved every second of it. My warmest blessings to you both, with many wishes for a long future together.
