Impressions of Summer´s solstice celebration

I performed as guest (in the role of Titania the Queen of the Faeries) in La Nit de las dones d'aigua (the night of the water ladies) celebrated in the village of Sant Joan les Fonts (Girona). It was a magical environment and night. The first time of my harp (endorsed by Rees Harps) on the stage and I performed in an elevated platform over the river, quite high LOL. Overall a friendly magical night among the faeries. The highlight, a winged Pegasus!

You can watch a video here (I'm 16 minutes in and ahead) http://www.elgarrotxi.cat/ARX/378.html

There is also a little mention in Olot tv noticies (news of Olot tv) mention comes 14th minute and ahead and you can watch it here http://olottv.xiptv.cat/video/51873/les-noticies?a7eca8862593b770ffa28e0532e39562

They say eyes are mirrors into the soul

After a scare I had yesterday (check my twitter or facebook, eek!)  I was forced to stay up late all night and couldn't sleep, made all sorts of random sketches and also  took the chance to keep on painting the artworks for The Underliving (please spread the link to help us) so working and  finishing the artworks of the CD, my deadline is in july, if things go ok I'd love to release it during summer. I've been painting a pair of eyes for "ode to the silence" it's a simple drawing, just a front face with a hush gesture, but somehow I spent painting like forever in the eyes, and they ended up much more realistic than the rest of the sketch... (pd. no photo, it's just painting, and not very clean but these eyes were suddenly looking back at me... Well for the rest of the drawing, now almost finished you'll have to wait for the cd. I also almost finished "a thought at the dreams door" so getting back to Northern Lights the one I promised to share step by step and that you can see up to actual state in previous blog entries.

:) video de Fear no more

Fear no more you said
with tender words
Now rest and forget your strife
Like climbing vines your arms enfolded me
Oh I'd hazard death with a smile
If I could only be brave to hold now
the gaze of your fathomless eyes
Every time I fail and hide in shivers
it scares me how profound they are
They make my soul feels fragile
as if it were carved out in glass
Fear no more you said, but should I fear you?

I'll share "Northern Lights" sketch as I paint and I progress as well as a diary of the artworks...

So previous blog post I shared the pencil sketch of  "Northern Lights" (read the Lyrics) a song dedicated to the dying Arctic, and it portrays the journey of a wolf (I painted also a wolf girl but wolf and girl are the same thing) journeying to North to behold the Northern Lights, So full pencil sketch... Today I made an overall matte painting background and started to add details to the face of the wolf girl. I'll try to finish her and start details on the wolf tomorrow. Here´s a detail:

I shall be posting how this particular drawing progresses to show it as example, though of course there are 16 songs (hint hint lots of work)

How the idea started (overall idea, clothing design, blah blah), then clean pencil sketch before starting to paint. I'll be posting the  updates editing this very entry as I proceed

Then cleaning the overall idea (took the profile side option).

Then starting to paint the background, overall turquoise and dark wash with some blurred pine trees, drew somelines and duplicated the layer several times with different levels of blur and glow, will post the overall background once I put a few more details, Then starting to color some detail on the face. I always start by the faces... it's like something I should not but always do.http://theunderliving.com

I also finished some pencil  sketches for "a thought at the dreams door" among others. Thanks to all the ones reading and supporting this project, and please keep on spreading theunderliving.com

I'll keep posting updates, so bookmark the blog.

Update:  today I sort of finished matte painting the background and overall Northern lights,  and started to add details to the figure. Not entirely convinced may make it overall darker... but so far, this is how it looks. More in the following days. Feel lazy now to start painting the wolf and the fur, so may rest with another drawing in between.

Sketching, painting the artworks for the Underliving. Sharing a few drawings.

These days I'm diving in my pencils, watercolors and the desktop is complete chaos, but well rendering the drawings for the soon to be The Underliving new album (thanks to the friends that have donated, and for the ones thinking about it, our deadline is mid summer, though we trust we´ll make it somehow). Music is done and being mixed/mastered, only a few  details will be added including some guest musicians.

So this is the official UNDERLIVING logo :)  If you see the T has lots of branches (reminiscent of "off the lane" video an single) and the U is made out of two Underliving beings.

But these days on ... painting and painting ... so fun. Below you can see one of the "transformation" sketches. "Unfurl and become" where our little girl dreams of being one of the creatures of the Underliving world under the guidance of them. Of course now needs coloring, it's barely inked. There will be quite a few of this "sketchy" style which I´m enjoying a lot.

Of course there will be photBeen working this days also in drawings of some of the songs not included in the main  theme, like in Northern Lights that I dedicate to the dying Arctic. I have already made the pencil sketch, the wolf is greatly inspired by Kira.  I'll take this one to post examples of how it progresses with the coloring, right now matte-painting the landscape. :)

And more soon...

Please support us, spreading theunderliving.com website, telling your friends, watching and rating and commenting the underliving videos in youtube, purchasing "off the lane" single, contributing with a little donation... or simply providing an encouraging word. Love you! More soon... back to the desktop!

Had a super lovely sunday in the forest

I spent a lovely sunday out in the Catalonian forests  with Héctor and my friends Jose Javier and Oristila. Both Héctor and Oris took me plenty of pictures that I'll share soon, I also recorded some video. It was so fun! I carried my harp (endorsed by Harpsicle harps) all the way.  It is indeed so lightweight, but after hours of trek in the forest hahaha I really felt insanely tired. It was worth the effort, We got to see a lovely waterfall and back down we enjoyed some cheese and bread by the water. Overall a perfect day...

Here is Héctor wearing the YIDNETH t-shirt  (even if you can´t see it LOL) soon available in the store. :) By the way my man is a little bit reckless :/ climbing and jumping...! I also saw boars for the first time, they were behind a fence but soooo cute!

A shot of the landscape (lush, green, wet, lovely). Photo by Héctor Corcín.

and  one promotional picture we took up there also taken by Héctor of me playing my harpsicle harp. I'm wearing also the crown by Los Tesoros de la Ayalga, and my arm gloves and scarf by Opal Moon design. (see both in my endorsements). More lovely pics (and video) to come :) but so far sharing this one that I've called "Forest ballad"

You can see a bigger version of the photo in "My sponsors" gallery

My fairy bag!

Last week I found a gift in my pobox... it had two bags one for me and one for Totonika my hamster (yes for my hamster) and she was so happy as you can see in her own site here. Mine is a cute green bag with ivy and a rose. My fairy-garden bag as I call it... and it has awaken passions wherever I go, cos yes, it has become my daily wear bag LOL... so I had some lovely comments like "it´s so green" "you have a garden bag" or "you got a plant in your bag" and yes.... those are sweet compliments for me LOL... and yes it's green, and it's not that easy being green (as Kermit from the muppets say) but I do do love it LOL. So thanks to Morgaine and her "bags of Avalon"  for sending this gift.

Above: me with my bag of Avalon

I also got a fairy ring from  my fellow writer and illustrator Cristina Puig and some earrings from Laineth! It was like xmas week! I'll edit later on this entry to add some pics of them cos they're super super cuteeeeeee!

Visited Montserrat and had a great time!

I had a lovely monday, visited Montserrat and listened their children Choir at the church. Loved the angelic voices of children, enjoyed fresh air, good cheese, friendly company and the sweet sounds of my lovely baritone dulcimer sponsored by Ron Ewing Dulcimers
