Visit to Barcelona and Halloween Steampunk-Vodoo-Witches Photo shoot

Sigh, back from a week visit to Barcelona... Oh my god, How I miss the city and my friends there...! It was not long enough and I'm already yearning to return. It's been a couple of years I moved to Navarra, Spain, and though the Nature and forests here and gorgeous, still I miss my former home-town too much.... Said that I want to thank to all the friends that had time to spend with me in this brief visit :). As one of the highlights my friend Vany Miranda kidnapped me into this Steampunk-Vodoo-Witchy photo shoot, very fitting for the forthcoming Halloween... SO MUCH FUN! as you can see in the pictures :)

It was really darker and different set for me, to play a witch among book of spells, poisons and even a crystal ball to foresee the future... :). But don't worry, I won't curse you if you're good with me :) ;-) Happy Halloween/Samhain/All Hallows´eve

Hello October... Chant with the wind!

Hello October 15...

The leaves are turning gold, the days are becoming shorter, the twilight is now more golden and longer than ever... I welcome you and the changes you bring... I am undergoing myself a time of change and I turn the page only to dive into a new exciting chapter...

A couple of days ago I fixed my wind band (originally from tribal thunder) and went on a walk to welcome October.  A wind band  is an instrument that works like a bull-roarer a prehistoric instrument found in many cultures. It had broken and remained silent over a year so I took the first chance to climb a hill and spin it as soon as it came back to life and sound. In Britain and Ireland they were used in ceremonial thunder spell rites and it is also found in other cultures.

Héctor and I went uphill, to Guendulain, Navarra, through paths full of wild bushes and withered wildberries, into old discarded melancholic ruins.  We found some honeycombs with buzzing busy cute bees making honey that buzzed along with our musical instrument.

Above: Guendulain´s ruins (Navarre, Spain) bathed in golden light on our way. Picture by Héctor Corcín.

Above: me with my wind band already repaired, repainted and with a new rubber band. It was spun and buzzed and chanted and resonated with the wind on top of a hill against the most glorious twilight. :) It was a very spiritual experience, also some kind of soul cleansing, all bathed in golden light. :) Time for new beginnings :).

And HOW DOES A WIND BAND SOUND?  So here there is a little video with a short improvisation, spinning it and chanting along, It was somehow very pre-Samhain :).   hope you like it! :)

I felt like summoning the wind and the sunset was just perfect... Song is lyricless because I was just improvising and letting it go with the moment. Mine was manufactured by Tribal Thunder and customised by myself. Any piece of wood attached to a string should also make the same effect. :).

Delicious blackberries! a gift from Mother Nature!

Oh what a lovely afternoon! And what a delicious treat we got from nature! We had plans to go somewhere else but sadly the place was closed and we were forced to change our plans, so accidentally stopped by a lovely forest full of shrubs fully loaded of ripening wild berries!

And I return with half a box of wild blackberries, and I ate hands full of them. Vivid colourful and lovely little packages of health, antioxidants, minerals and vitamins... such a gift!. Thank you Mother Nature! Now I have some tough decisions to make... pie? jam? hmmm LOL a wealth of yummy possibilities!

Our purple stained hands revealed us guilty of gluttony! :) Nom! Nom! Nom!

Above: me collecting blackberries... sometimes painful but rewarding! :)

La llave del tiempo: photographs taken by my friend Wui de Lue

These are some shots of myself made by my friend and fellow photographer Wui de Lue some weeks ago in Navarre, Spain. She just created also a facebook page for her pictures called “La Llave del tiempo” The shots are inspired in several fairytale concepts, including Rapunzel.

Taika in the garden...

She might be old already but she certainly knows how to enjoy fresh air and the garden. These are some delightful pictures Héctor took yesterday of my "fufunchi" in the garden. Isn't she precious?

Good bye Ritva, my lovely sweet birch branch

Above: Ritva (October 2011-December 2014)

Ritva is gone... she left us last Christmas Eve and we buried her with her sister Tuula in Christmas day. She fought stubbornly and was a loving creature until her last breath. She covered me with kisses and groomed her sister Taika in farewell, and there she was gone... :( 3 years and 3 months my strong birch branch is flying now free in the wind (that´s what Ritva means because she was mostly white and light grey). We have dealt with a lot of sadness during this holiday season, we miss them both (our fufunchis Tuula and Ritva) so much! :(  Ritva was so strong and she proved she loved to live and made her own decision to fight until the end. She showed us she wanted so and it's also a worthy lesson to make us appreciate the gift of life a little bit more.  Taika is still here, mourning and really sad, she´s not coping very well to be alone and I really do not wish to grow old on her own, wondering if we must allow new "life" in, but missing my girls so dearly.  I want to think of a place where I can be with them again, with Kira, with Toto and with my fufunchis. That´s all I long and wish for if it could exist, but meanwhile it can exist in my heart, my imagination and in my dreams, and they are indeed still around me.

Here me singing to Ritva "you'll be in my heart" I sang it to her in her last moments too, she was turning 3 in the video but though she was already frail she leaves almost three months more.

I love you Tuula. I love you Ritva... the wind and the birch branch. Mummy, Daddy and Taika miss you.

Your love lives in me and so you live too!

Here you can see many videos of my fufunchis 1.0 Tuula and Ritva since they were babies. I'm happy to think they had a happy life, they indeed were very loved.

In memory of Mark Lewis (1954-2014) a true STORYTELLER. We will miss you.

There are lives and lights that touch others and make them feel they're part of a whole where they are included. I meat Mark Lewis back in 2008 and my life changed accordingly to this enormous and very important event. Mark was a spark of magic and I cannot even relate what I felt the first time I listened to him telling a story. But I can tell they became real and tangible when he spoke, in a way that reality itself distorted to absorb you and even creating the most strange memories like seeing a forest waving and moving all its branches like a living wall when he was whistling like the wind. That imprinted in my brain, it really happened, and it was magic. The storyteller and  his friend Billy (the Green Man) changed my life, and gave me comfort and friendship and a generous slice of their wisdom cake. I decided to write them both last night to say thanks, we cross paths soon, only to realize today that he´s gone. He´s off this earthly existence since Sunday and my heart just broke a little. I feel as if I have sent a message to space, but yet maybe there he can read it.

Above: Mark and me

Me and Héctor will miss you dearly and are grateful that we met you, and to read in the networks all the others also touched by your existence move me and gives me comfort. I don't know, but wherever it is the reason he´s gone there has to be MAGIC INVOLVED.

We love you and we will miss you,  THANK YOU. Forever grateful.
Pris and Héctor

Expect the unexpected! Yayy I won an ORACLE FOLK Luna guitar!

My song "The call of the nymph" spoke of dragonflies... and I confess I have a little obsession with them! :). So a couple of months back I tweeted... oh I'd love an oracle folk dragonfly...! and some months later Luna Guitars held a contest all around the world giving away one guitar a week. All you had to do is to get a picture of yourself and where you would play your Luna. Of course I picked my favorite model (close after their lovely trinity bouzuki) These were my contest pictures :). I didn't make it several weeks but they decided to give one last chance.

Above: first pic, me as a fairy asking for the guitar to play it in the forests (Navarre)

Below: second pic, this time with my pet rat Taika (my lucky one).

Well now the good news... unexpectedly they decided to give away more than one winner I JUST WON a give-away contest held by Luna Guitars (USA)  due to international participation and I'm waiting for it, perfect timing because my birthday happens to be two weeks ahead! Just when I had already gave up this chance, as I say, expect the unexpected!

such a sweet dream!

The guitar  :) I hope I will take a "real" picture with it as soon as it arrives! :)  Thank you Luna Guitars, you people for voting me and Taika for the luck!

and the banner from Luna that makes it official! :)

To be updated with the birthday/Xmas gift arrives!

You´ll be here in my heart... always

Ritva is still alive but very frail. I want to share this story with you.

Yesterday I randomly picked one dvd from my shelf, It was Disney´s Tarzan, It had been long since I last watched though I had been remembering the soundtrack and decided to watch it. I had found some videos of Tuula (one of my rats that died recently) and holding Ritva (her sister who is superfrail yet superstrong and struggling with old age). The song "You´ll be in my heart" started and I found myself in tears, every single line was matching my love for her (and her sisters) and even at the end "just look over your shoulder" she crawled up and placed herself on Hector´s shoulder, it was real-time freaking awesome tear-jerking experience and so moving. And when the lyrics even said "no matter what they say" which is actually the name of the song I wrote for them... word by word, our story, and our love and now I appreciate this song tons more cos it's reached me to the core. Take a moment to relate the lyrics. It is worth. And Ritva, you're only two days away from your third birthday, hope I can celebrate it with you my sweet strong girl.

Whenever you have to go, I will understand. You will be in my heart.... always.

update 4th October: SHE MADE IT! She is 3 years old now :) So I decided to spontaneously record this as a gift for her. :) sorry the clumsy playing but I'm playing one-handed and holding Ritva with the other LOL and it was not easy LOL.
For you my sweetheart!

We love you Tuula (4/10/2011 - 1/4/2014)

Good bye my love :(

Last month I post in this about a little miracle. Our beloved  rat Tuula (one of our three "fufunchis") had a stroke and she recovered. She has gifted us one month more of her life and sparkling existence to our joy. Still, I am grieved having to say that yesterday she left. Her name is Tuula (wind) and she went on a windy night. And the wind has been howling today when Héctor and me went to look for a beautiful place for her to rest. She is my rat-dog, the wise and amazing Tuulikki. Her fufunchis sisters Ritva and Taika are still with us and they are also very sad. Tuula went peacefully, her heart got slow and yesterday morning she crawled and licked my hand. Then in the evening she grabbed my finger with her little paw and passed away while holding me tightly. Her paw remained closed around my finger and she looked very much in peace. She did not suffer and I know she felt very loved. Hector and I were both  with her in her final moment, surrounded and wrapped with our love. Now she is in the other side of the veil playing with my Kira and with Totonika.

Everytime the wind blows you'll be there flying to us my sweet one. Thank for the time you have gifted us, for the love you've shared with us, for your companionship and simple wisdom. For your empathy which many humans won't never understand.

And for the ones not understanding... No matter what they say. I know there are many people heartless and blind to understand that an animal can share a true love bond and become part of our existence. Tuula was not my pet, she was my friend and companion.

Mummy and Daddy loves you!

Above: Tuula when she arrived home and she was a little thing

Once upon a time there was a little baby rat. She and her sister Ritva chose us to be their lucky parents.

She was meant to have a great life, to love, and be loved

Tuula was curious and always wondered "what´s out there?"

She was a natural beauty

She had stars and galaxies inside her huge black eyes

Dark eyes that always glanced full of love for us

Even in her late life she was playful and learning new things. This video was barely a few weeks before her first stroke.

She was just AMAZING (sugoi nezumi)

Now rest in peace my love. You'll be always in our heart
