What is Yidneth?

Yidneth is my trademark and the name of my company and record label but also  name that I invented for my personal project, and not my artistic name (though after using it so long it's almost like my alter-ego). When I was younger I was more focused in my works as illustrator and then somehow music got more successful and carried away some of my projects that remained then on hold.

To honor this project my record label  took name and company LOGO (a ghostly woman silhouette shaped as "Y")  out of it and also  my first album was named Ancient Shadows: the ghost and the fairy referring to terms proper of the mythology explained in the story. The album had  even some songs like "Ancient Shadow" and "Lament" directly inspired from the pages of the graphic novel.

Though I've actively drawn all this while, sadly "Yidneth" was one of this projects now in need of rescue. Thus First album was Ancient Shadows, second The Underliving, and third in the trilogy will be entitled Yidneth and probably will dust off the pages of this early project.

Yidneth started as a horror/fantasy novel that then I illustrated to make a comic out of it. It consists of a 74 coloured page gothic-fantasy comic graphic novel I scripted when a child and that took shape as a graphic novel done through the 80´s until 90´s, though a number of the illustrations have been featured in publications or features of my art, the project "as a whole" remains unpublished but nourishes all my art as you can see in the artworks I sell or the illustrations in my published albums.

Some of my close friends have seen this project and have encouraged me to rescue it, so probably it will be published after The Underliving along with a soundtrack If I find no other way to publish it so if you're a company interested in publishing it do not hesitate to contact me or ask for information.

Artistically it is one the projects that have satisfied me the most, not only because I do believe the story is worthy, but also because I've gotten used to their characters and have created an alternative world around it. Yidneth is about fairies and ghosts but not a fairytale or a ghost story.  I mention several realms like the THE LIVING (also called THE FLESH), the UNDERLIVING (wich gives name to my second album on the making), THE TRANSIT (Ghosts also called SOULS) and the ELEMENTAL WORLD (Elementals also called SPIRITS ruled by The Ancient and thus the name of my first album "Ancient Shadows"). There are several stories branched out of them but the main "Yidneth" is a simple romantic yet bitter story in the Elemental World between "The Ancient" an elemental god, ruler of the "spirit world". It is a fairy/ghost/underworld cross-over.  I do not wish to be very revealing now but I can say now it's time to start to share and make it see the light, so be sure to bookmark this site and come, you may find a surprise around here! Plotting to sit down, finish it (even if now my style is so different than then!) and maybe release a limited edition to please the demand of my fans

Below: Yidneth in my recent art. Below, one of her multiple  apparitions in The Underliving (with my updated technique). Part of the  story takes place in a different time/space setting  and dwells with metaphysical concepts as our own "identity".

Above: back cover of the original coloured pencil graphic novel (1994)

Below: The Ancient and Yidneth´s wedding (colour pencils), one of the early covers (I have a totally different style today as I was barely a teenager when I made this). And not our happy ending but barely the beginning of our tale.

Above: The Ancient, an all powerful Elemental god (originally shapeless) with very ambiguous character. Somehow he is not only the main but also antagonistic character of the story.

Yidneth: Will you ever forgive me?
The Ancient: No, I shall not. I can´t. You were not strong enough to stay.
